# "Last checked X ago" looks wrong

The dashboard's "last checked" label shows the time of the monitor's most recent check result - including
while a monitor is in an ongoing down (or otherwise changed) state. If you see a much larger value than the
check interval, the monitor most likely hasn't produced a result yet (for example, a brand-new monitor before
its first check has run).

## What to check if you're unsure

- Open the monitor's **results / check log** - it shows the timestamp of every individual check, which is
  always accurate.
- If the monitor is currently down, the [incident](/monitors/down-detection/) record shows when the outage
actually started and how it's progressing.

## Do it with the API

`GET /monitor/{id}?expand=lastResult` returns the monitor's newest result inline, with its own timestamp -
compare that against what the dashboard shows. For the full history, `GET /monitor/{id}/result` (or MCP
`list_monitor_results`) lists every individual check, newest first, each with its own accurate timestamp.
